Only five playoff teams on Colts’ 2010 schedule
By Bud L. Ellis
If the Indianapolis Colts hope to repeat as AFC champions, they won’t have to navigate too difficult of a journey in 2010 to return to the playoffs and defend their title.
The National Football League has released the list of home games and road games for every team. Dates and times will be finalized later this spring.
For the Colts, a look at the schedule shows Indy will play just five of its 16 games against playoff teams from last season. At home, Indy faces AFC West champion San Diego, NFC East champion Dallas and AFC North champion Cincinnati. The other five games are against teams that didn’t make the playoffs: Houston, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Kansas City and the New York Giants.
Only two of Indy’s eight road games are against postseason qualifiers: at NFC wild-card team Philadelphia and against AFC East champion New England. The rest of the road slate includes visits to Houston, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Denver, Oakland and Washington.
The Colts’ schedule is tied with Cleveland’s for 10th-toughest in the NFL, based on opponents’ winning percentage.
