Eric Foster surgery a success
The play was painful to watch during last night’s Monday Night Football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Defensive tackle Eric Foster suffered a dislocated right ankle in the second quarter when he got tangled up with the pile while trying to assist on a tackle. With today’s HD TVs, you could practically hear the *POP*.
Immediately upon being removed from the field, Foster chest pounding to his teammates the whole way, Foster was evaluated overnight and taken to a Florida hospital, where he had ankle surgury this morning and will remain for the next few days. His season is over, but as every football player knows, injuries are just part of the game.
”I think you have to deal with injuries in this business,” Colts coach Jim Caldwell said after the game. “They happen. You just have to find a way to overcome it. That’s what we talk about — the next man up. Somebody has got to fill in and be ready to play.”
The “next man up” to take Foster’s place is still TBD, but the top candidates being considered from the practice squad are Ricardo Matthews or Ollie Ogbu.
The 24-17 loss to the Bucs Monday night just added insult to the Colts’ roster of team injuries. It is still early in the season, so the future is not looking so bright in Indianapolis.
